SEO Content Writing Tips After The Google Penguin Update

We all know how much the top spots in Google’s first search page are coveted by website owners. Being ranked no. 1 at Google’s search results can make a difference since internet searchers always click the first website that comes out in the search pages and will very least likely choose the second, third and those that are beyond these ranks.

Website owners who do not have an understanding of basic SEO procedures even employ SEO services just to achieve these ranks. Before the Google Penguin update, SEO specialists come up with the most number of articles with heavy keyword density in an ungraceful way as their strategy in getting the top spot in Google’s search pages. Google is quick to realize these unfair practices, hence, they developed an algorithm that will stop utilizing of low quality and duplicate content and penalize websites making use of this strategy.

With the new changes in Google’s system of ranking websites, how should content writers change their approach in creating articles that will be recognized by Google? Actually, everything should be simpler, especially for passionate writers. They just have to think of the readers as their priority in creating content. Here are more specific tips to follow:

  • As long as it will still sound natural, try your best to optimize the title. In spite of the major changes after the Google Penguin update, the title still plays a big part in when it comes to search metrics of an article. However, since Google recognizes a content’s quality, avoid forcing the keyword on the title if it will only drive away the readers.

  • Keep the keyword density at very minimum. Over repetition of the main keywords will no longer work after the Google Penguin update. Mentioning the keyword once or twice at the most should be enough. Google can now identify an awkward amount of keywords in an article and will penalize websites with this kind of content.

    1. When putting links, make sure that they are relevant to an article. Be sure that the links will help readers gain more understanding about the article.
    2. Create a strong social presence. Almost everyone is into social media these days and Google knows this too. These days, people can easily share, make favourable comments, ‘like’ a content or website and Google remembers these when ranking websites in their search results.
    3. Most of all, write for your readers. This last tip may be a bit vague since there are several measures for a writer to do this. Aside taking steps no. 1 and 2 above, writers should try to make their articles as easy to read as possible. Avoid technical terms which will make the article difficult to understand, but be sure that your article still gives relevant information. Use of short paragraphs with few sentences will also make an article easy to read. Proofread the article thoroughly before submitting to websites since grammatical errors and erroneous spellings will be detrimental to an article’s quality.
